Several distinct types of pit bull terriers exist
American Bully
In 1980s and 1990s, America's bully arose. Bulldogs and pit bull terriers developed the breed. Bulldogs have a wider skull and are more compact.
Reputed breeders provide polite, amiable bulldogs. Because bullies are strong and athletic, they need exercise and socialisation.
American Pit Bull Terrier
American bulldogs and British terriers created the breed. Bloodhounds. Modern American pit bull terriers are good with families and hunt well. As pit bulls, they're affectionate.
American Staffordshire Terrier
American Staffordshire terriers descended from 19th-century English terriers and bulldogs. The breed was less battle-ready, therefore they were calmer.
Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Developed for dogfighting in the 19th century, the Staffordshire bull terrier is now loyal and affectionate. These dogs are tolerant with kids and love to cuddle.
American Bulldog
American bulldogs derive from 17th-century English bulldogs used for bull baiting. North American bulldogs were farm workers and pets.
Despite their size, they're affectionate and love laps. They're child-friendly. Early training and socialisation are essential to make them friendly.
