Healthy Fruits & Veggies to eat
Pumpkin gets all the attention this time of year, but it's not the only fall fruit or vegetable that may help you on and off the bike.
Apples
Apples are synonymous with fall (and all the activities and treats associated with them). The fall fruit is rich in vitamin C, which may boost your immune system.
Pumpkin
Pumpkins aren't just for Halloween: Pumpkin is high in vitamin A, which can improve vision. It contains phytosterols, which may lower bad cholesterol, & beta-carotene, which fights free radicals.
Figs
Figs are a good source of fibre, which may help lower cholesterol, manage blood sugar, avoid constipation, & keep you full longer. Figs contain potassium, which lowers blood pressure.
Cauliflower
Cauliflower's vitamins C & K help control inflammation. Cauliflower is high in folate, which helps prevent neural tube abnormalities.
Beets
Beets deserve better than the salad bar. The fall root vegetable includes anti-inflammatory betalains. Beets include folate, potassium, & manganese, which aid with calcium absorption & blood coagulation.
Pears
Pears make fall recipes healthier & tastier. The fruit contains fibre, vitamin C, copper & boron, which helps the body retain calcium.
